Join Sort-a-thon and sort through Second-hand Clothing with Redress – 21 Nov

2 Nov

Did you know, every day Hongkongers throw 370 tonnes of textiles into landfill, most of which is recyclable? Redress is a pioneering Hong Kong based NGO working to reduce textile waste and promote environmental sustainability in the fashion industry.

On 21 and 22 November, Redress is running an exciting mass-clothes-sorting event aiming to sort through all of the clothing collected in the Get Redressed Clothing Drive (forecasted as over 10 tonnes) in just 24 hours, with the help of 30 teams of corporate and community volunteers.

HandsOn Hong Kong is recruiting volunteers to form a community team of 10-15 people for the 1pm – 5pm session on Thursday 21 November. You will be volunteering with up to 4 other teams.

What will volunteers be doing?
Volunteers will be sorting through clothing donations and directing them for resale, reuse by our 20+ local charity partners, up-cycling and recycling, depending on the type and quality of the clothing.

Date: Thursday, 21 November

Time: 1-5pm

Place: 16/F Berkshire House, Taikoo Place

Register: If you are interested in signing up, please follow this link to HandsOn.
