At long last, climate change is at the forefront of policy agendas and citizens’ minds around the world. From every crisis in the environment lies an opportunity to increase awareness, urgency and action across governments, businesses and communities.
Here in Hong Kong, with so many environmental obstacles being structural and systemic, it’s often hard to find a starting point. The good news? We actually have quite a few expert minds in this field who produce high-quality research and represent Hong Kong internationally in this ecosystem.
SUSTAINHK is delighted to invite Prof. Robert Gibson and John Sayer, two of Hong Kong’s most seasoned climate experts, to share their expertise on the Science of Climate Change as well as discuss the important concept of just transition in Hong Kong and beyond.
Robert and John will also share their experiences and takeaways from COP24 – the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which took place in December 2018 – and present their most important research findings ahead of the U.N. Climate Action Summit 2019 on September 23rd, which they will be attending.
You’ll be learning about the scientific concepts behind carbon capture technology and other ideas and solutions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions; just transition and climate action links to the social SDGs; policy activism and youth action; and many more important topics.
Bring your passion, curiosity and resolve, and join SUSTAINHK on September 18th at Ucommune Sheung Wan for an inspiring and important conversation.
