Update on Macau greyhounds

28 Jul

There was good news for the 500+ greyhounds from the now closed Macau Canidrome. On Friday Angela Leong On-kei – one of Macau’s most powerful businesswomen and fourth wife of gaming tycoon Stanley Ho Hung-sun, and owner of the Canidrome – joined hands with redoubtable animal rights activist Albano Martins to announce the creation of a new International Centre for the Rehoming of Greyhounds on a plot of land not far from the glitzy casino towers of the Cotai Strip.

This facility with on-call vets, a medical centre, air-conditioned living quarters, toilets, and indoor and outdoor activity areas, all built to international standards will be a home for the greyhounds until they find new homes or to live out their lives.

Please follow this link to the SCMP article.

If you are interested in adopting one of the greyhounds, please follow this link to the blogpost on the subject.

Encouraging indeed. But just the first step. They have to build the facility first.
