City Challenge 2016

1CC16 (Large)Are you a fan of the Amazing Race? Then this one is for you. The fourth City Challenge, a charity scavenger hunt requiring speed, wits, navigational skills and good knowledge of Hong Kong, will take runners on a journey of discovery through Eastern district this year. The fun run, hosted by the Child Welfare Scheme, will take place on Saturday, March 12.

About 200 people in 45 teams are expected to participate in the event, raising funds through registration fees and sponsorship that will go towards providing an education for underprivileged children in Hong Kong and Nepal.

The start line will be somewhere near Causeway Bay and the finish line somewhere near Quarry Bay. Start line will be announced at the end of February. Teams gather at 1:15 pm ready for a 2 pm start. All teams must reach the finish line by 5 pm to enjoy some pizza and drinks. Winners will be announced and prize giving will take place at 5:45 pm. Take a look at this video.

Race format: Over 40 teams and a total of 200 people are expected to join the event which is made up of over 30 checkpoints each with their own unique challenge. The checkpoints are evenly split into 3 challenge categories:

  • A marshal challenge (physical & creative)
  • A photo challenge (visual & creative)
  • An information challenge (general knowledge)

Teams earn points at check points and the team with the most points wins.

There are some exciting prizes for the top teams in each category, the best dressed team, the top fundraising team and a few other surprise prizes too!
