Drink for Good 2015

Barhopping and doing something meaningful at the same time? Sounds like a strange combination. But join ‘Drink for Good 2015′ on 8th October 2015 to help raise money for HandsOn Hong Kong and you’ll be doing exactly that.

drinks for goodFounded in 2007, HandsOn Hong Kong is a registered charity that strives to be the first point of contact for individuals in Hong Kong who want to be involved in community service, by actively recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to participate in volunteer activities benefiting the local community.

With every drink you purchase at each participating bar or restaurant, HK$5 will be donated to HandsOn Hong Kong. Over 60 bars and restaurants in Central, Soho, Wanchai, and Quarry Bay will be taking part including hotspots The Woods, Ham & Sherry and Aberdeen Street Social. HandsOn Hong Kong will then use the funds raised for kids with special needs, and for other programs addressing pressing social needs in Hong Kong.

Drink For Good is now in its third year and your participation will make it even better than ever! Last year, HOHK raised funds to make wishes come true for 500 special needs kids. Just over HK$100,000 was raised thanks to the participation of 83 venues and 45 Corporate Sponsors.

Responsible drinking is a key part of the messaging for the event as the event is about drinking in moderation, not getting drunk.

About Hands On: HandsOn Hong Kong was founded in 2007 and is an affiliate of the international volunteer network, HandsOn Network (HON), headquartered and registered as a nonprofit organization in the United States.

Their mission is two-fold: to help charities meet their volunteer needs and help individuals who want to give back to the community do so in a meaningful way. To accomplish their mission, they partner with local charities to develop volunteer projects and to recruit, train, and manage volunteers and volunteer projects. The types of volunteer projects they organize range from activities with children, such as helping local primary students improve their English skills and providing after-school tutoring to ethnic minority students, to helping the elderly and people with disabilities, to animal welfare, and other areas.
