Freedom Care seeks an Outcomes Evaluator

15 Apr

An outcomes evaluator who has experience in intervention research is being sought to evaluate the children in the Freedom Care project. The aim is have a detailed report of the psychological benefits of this project, so that the project can be scaled up in Nepal.

About Freedom Care:
Founded two years ago, the Freedom Care project is based on home-based care that is an alternative to fostering or kinship care, and involves adult carers looking after a small group of orphans in a home-like setting. This project is based in Nepal. To date the Freedom Care project has placed six children from orphanages into their own home with two female carers who live full-time with the children. These two carers were themselves living on the street, so are also beneficiaries of the project.

Because Nepal’s society has large class distinctions, the fostering system is failing. Freedom Care believes that the system that they have developed overcomes the problems with fostering in Nepal. For more information on the work of Freedom Care, please visit their website.
