Habitat for Humanity China “Build for Hope” Charity Concert

22 Jan

Go to a concert as a way to give to charity, sounds like a great idea. The facts: 1.6 billion people in the world still live in substandard houses or have no shelter.

Our homeland China has over 150 million people living in poverty housing. To ensure that people in need will have a decent place to call home, Habitat for Humanity China invites you to build homes and hope through a music. In Build for Hope, Watoto Children’s Choir is coming to Hong Kong from Uganda to share their stories, music and dancing with you. All funds raised will help building Habitat homes in China and support Watoto Child Care Ministries and their housing projects. Let’s start building them a “Home” today.

Date: 28 February

Time: 7:30pm

Location: Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom

Tickets: $330, $200 from HKTicketing

About Habitat for Humanity China: Founded by Millard Fuller and his wife Linda in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a non-profit Christian housing organization with a mission to eliminate poverty housing worldwide by building simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families themselves and volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity builds for people of all backgrounds, races and religions to provide needy families with a simple and decent place to live in.

To date, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 400,000 houses, for more than 2,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Habitat for Humanity China’s Hong Kong office focuses on fundraising and recruiting volunteers. Donations are allocated to Habitat housing programs in mainland China and disaster response efforts around the world such as the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.

Volunteering: Join a Global Village trip experience another culture and make a difference in the lives of others. Global Village trips are short-term build trips to locations throughout the world and offer a valuable educational and spiritual experience within a crossed-cultural environment.

Volunteers can partner with people of different cultures to help building decent and affordable houses, and create a true ‘global village’ of love, homes, communities, and hope! The experience transforms lives: both for the volunteers who work alongside Habitat for Humanity’s homeowners and for partner families who see that there are ‘outsiders’ who care enough to help them break the cycle of poverty.

Global Village trips are short-term build trips to locations throughout the world and offer a valuable educational and spiritual experience within a crossed-cultural environment.
