Illusion x Vision – A Photography Exhibition by ORBIS on World Sight Day 2011

9 Oct

Organised by the World Health Organization, World Sight Day (WSD) aims at raising awareness of the importance of eye care. To support WSD this year, ORBIS will organize this inaugural WSD photography exhibition. Aside from featuring the work of ORBIS throughout the years around the globe, the exhibition is cordially invited several well-known local opinion formers including Dr. Lee Lok-sze, Alan Chan, Stanley Wong (anothermountainman), Almond Chu and Tse Chi-tak, generously to display their distinctive “visionary eyes” picture stories. The ultimate aim is to boost awareness of the need for quality eye care in Hong Kong and across the world’s neediest countries. Support ORBIS and their work by visiting this exhibit.

Date: 13-19 October

Time: 8am-11pm

Location: 3/F, Jockey Club Atrium, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Wanchai

About Orbis:
ORBIS Hong Kong was established in early 90s when a group of impassioned individuals who shared the dream of a world free from preventable blindness came together to raise public awareness about eye care issues. That same year, three high-profile supporters donated US$14 million to fund the purchase of a DC-10 airplane to replace the existing DC-8 Flying Eye Hospital. The biggest of these supporters was leading local businessman Mr. Y.C. Ho, who generously donated US$7 million of the DC-10’s cost. He and his fellow donors’ extraordinary kindness succeeded in instantly raising awareness about ORBIS’s presence in Hong Kong and its worldwide sight-saving work.

Good site! I really love how it is simple on my eyes and the data are well written. I am wondering how I could be notified when a new post has been made. I’ve subscribed to your feed which must do the trick! Have a nice day! “Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself.” by Lois McMaster Bujold.
